Band-width : Volume of data which it is possible to transfer between a server and a customer computer or the reverse. The volume of data or traffic is expressed in bytes or megabytes or gigabytes.

Bitrate : the bitrate (bit-rate) measures the speed of transfer of numeric data, measured in bits per second (bit/s, b/s or bps). The bigger the bitrate, the better is the quality of the video or the audio. Consequently, the incoming information being bigger, it will be heavier to stock and the consumption of the bandwidth increased. It is during the encoding that we choose the importance of the bitrate.

Blog :  A blog (short for web log) is a website where entries are made and displayed in a reverse chronological order. Blogs provide commentary or news on a particular subject, such as food, politics, or local news; one of its functions is as a more personal online diary. A typical blog combines text, images, and links to other blogs, web pages, and other media related to its topic. The ability for readers to leave comments in an interactive format is an important part of most early blogs. Most blogs are primarily textual although some focus on photographs (photoblog), sketchblog, videos (vlog), music (MP3 blog), or audio (podcasting), and are part of a wider network of social media.

BlogTV ou Vlog :  Blog that integrates video.

Blog Radio ou Audio Blog (audioblog) :  Blog that integrates audio.

Broadcast : It is the distribution of data from a single source to a set of receivers. The term is used in telecommunications, in computing and in television.

Codec : System of compression of an audio or video signal.

Domain name : The term domain name has multiple related meanings : A name that identifies a computer or computers on the internet. These names appear as a component of a Web site's URL, e.g. webtv-tools.com This type of domain name is also called a hostname, (the product that domain name registrars provide to their customers). These names are often called registered domain names. Names used for other purposes in the Domain Name System (DNS), for example the special name which follows the @ sign in an email address, or the Top-level domains like .com, or the names used by the Session Initiation Protocol (VoIP), or DomainKeys. They are sometimes colloquially (and incorrectly) referred to by marketers as "web addresses".

DRM : Digital rights management (DRM) is an umbrella term referring to technologies used by publishers or copyright owners to control access to or usage of digital data or hardware, and to restrictions associated with a specific instance of a digital work or device. The term is often confused with copy protection and technical protection measures, which refer to technologies that control or restrict the use and access of digital content on electronic devices with such technologies installed, acting as components of a DRM design.

Email : Electronic mail (abbreviated "e-mail" or, often, "mail") is a store and forward method of composing, sending, storing, and receiving messages over electronic communication systems.

Encoding : Process of conversion of a video and/or audio source in a computing format determined by means of codecs allowing a strong compression of datum while altering in the least possible way the image and/or the sound. The compression of audio and/or video data consists in reducing the quantity, while limiting at most the impact on the auditive quality of audio and visual of the video. The advantage of compression is to reduce the costs of storage and transmission of the audio and/or video files.

Space of storage/storage : Space occupied by data archived on a physical support such as a hard disk. The space of storage corresponds to the archiving faculty of a volume of data. It is expressed in bytes or mega-bytes or giga-bytes.

FTP : File Transfer Protocol is used to transfer data from one computer to another over the Internet, or through a network.

Geolocalisation  : Geographical localization of a site, a Net surfer.

IFABCIFABC :  The IFABC is a voluntary cooperative federation of industry-sponsored organizations established in nations throughout the world to verify and report facts about the circulation of publications and related data. Kbps : Is a unit enabling to measure the speed of data transfer.

Live : Live broadcast, no delay.

Mobile TV : TV channel diffused on mobiles.

Mobile Radio : Radio station diffused on mobiles.

Multicast : Multicast is the simultaneous delivery of information to a group of given computers using the most efficient strategy to deliver the data only once, creating copies only when the links to the destinations split.

O (Octets) - Mo (Mega-octets) - Go (Giga-octets) - To (Terra-octets)  : Units of measure for quantity of data stored on a physical support or in transit on a connection during one given period of time.
1 kilooctet  (ko) = 1 024 octets
1 mégaoctets (Mo) = 1 024 ko = 1 048 576 octets
1 gigaoctets (Go) = 1 024 Mo = 1 073 741 824 octets
1 téraoctets (To) = 1 024 Go = 1 099 511 627 776 octets

Visual Certification OJDOJD : Official organization which certifies the number of connections to a given Internet site on the basis of the number of visits and unique visitors. Before certification, the Web site will have installed on its site a measurement software in conformity with the OJD regulations which will enable it to carry out a daily declaration of connexions and their origin (DSF). The Xiti statistics software of Web-TV-tools is OJD certified. The OJD is one of the founding members of the International Association of Diffusion Control Offices (I.F.A.B.C.). The IFABC is a voluntary and world co-operative federation organization certifying the connexion frequency of Internet sites and their origin.

Pay-Per-View : Pay-per-view (often abbreviated PPV) is the system in which television viewers can purchase events to be seen on TV and pay for the private viewing of these events in their homes. The event is shown at the same time to everyone having ordering it, as opposed to video on demand systems, which allow viewers to see the event at any time. Events can be purchased using an on-screen guide, an automated telephone system, or through a live customer service representative. Streaming : Streaming media is multimedia that is continuously received by, and normally displayed to, the end-user while it is being delivered by the provider. The name refers to the delivery method of the medium rather than to the medium itself. The distinction is usually applied to media that are distributed over telecommunications networks, as most other delivery systems are either inherently streaming (e.g. radio, television) or inherently non-streaming (e.g. books, video cassettes, audio CDs). The verb 'to stream' is also derived from this term, meaning to deliver media in this manner.

Unicast : is the sending of information packets to a single destination. "Unicast" is derived from the word broadcast, as unicast is the extreme opposite of broadcasting. In computer networking, multicasting is used to regain some of the efficiencies of broadcasting.
